Who is Gary Dollinger

I’ve spent my career at the intersection of technology and business outcomes. Over the past 30 years, I’ve worked in technology strategy, product management, and software development, helping companies grow, scale, and in many cases, prepare for exit.
Before moving into M&A, I served as a CTO advisor to several companies and helped lead multiple successful exits. That work taught me how buyers think, what they scrutinize, and what separates a strong technology foundation from one that scares investors away.

Before moving into M&A, I served as a CTO advisor to several companies and helped lead multiple successful exits. That work taught me how buyers think, what they scrutinize, and what separates a strong technology foundation from one that scares investors away.
For the last two decades, I’ve focused on M&A transactions. I’ve been involved in more than 600 deals on both the buy and sell side, ranging from small tuck-ins of a few million dollars to some of the largest private equity transactions in the world, valued at over $100 billion. Along the way, I’ve provided advisory services to many of the largest PE firms globally, evaluating SaaS and tech-enabled businesses to assess their scalability, security, infrastructure, and overall technical health.
Through all of this, I’ve seen patterns repeat. Some companies earn stronger valuations because their technology inspires confidence. Others lose value - or lose the deal entirely - because of hidden risks that surface during diligence.
I created Tech for the Money to share those lessons. This isn’t about buzzwords or industry hype. It’s about helping founders, CTOs, and executives understand what buyers really look for when they evaluate the technology itself. If you’re thinking about an exit, or just want to be ready when that time comes, my goal is to give you practical insights that make the connection between code and capital clearer.
